Now I'm totally new to all this but I was just wondering what would you think would be the easiest and simple performance upgrades I can perform on my totally stock 2002 sc1 that will give a result I can actually notice. Yeah I know that might be asking for too much, but a guy can try.

thanks!

On a SOHC motor you won't feel any difference, even if you spend $1000 on stuff like the intake, exhaust system and exhaust header.

Like sc2_projekt_97 said, the best value and only way to get a noticeable increase in power is to upgrade to a DOHC motor.

Agree with two previous posts, and experience. Blew up a dohc. Ran a sohc for a while with cai, 2.5" exhaust with header , some porting blah blah blah. And well it sucked, than finally got a dohc back. Mild build and so much nicer.
So my suggestion would be to save the money that you would spend on performance for you sohc and keep that towards a dohc.
Or find someone who has already gone dohc and buy their performance sohc stuff cheap so when your disappointed your not out a lot.

This is not true at all. You will feel a difference if you do all of the bolt ons. It just wont be as nice as a DOHC. I agree, that you should save all your money and swap the head and other shit out but its your call. To be honest with you, save your money, keep your SOHC and buy a better car when you can. Cause you will always want something faster and better and once you are a couple grand into parts, you are going to kick yourself for spending all that money on a saturn.
