So I started a new project, Roll bar in my ION...........it is starting out well, and looks like it will work out well.

So, thats the start, nothing has been welded fully yet just tack welded.

The main loop has been completed, need to mount it to the floor/subframe connector and then start on the forward and backward supports.

Sorry about the bad pics, they were taken with my cell phone, I forgot my digital cam at home this morning.

Lookin good!

Just so you know, the height of the shoulder bar is very important for your back's safety, read this:

http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki ... l_Roll_Bar

Cross bar must be installed no more than 4" below, and not above, the driver's shoulders or to the side bar. Maximum protection for the driver will be afforded by installing the cross bar with the top of the bar EVEN with the top of the driver's shoulders.

Also for what it's worth:

"Unibody cars with stock floor and firewall (wheeltubs permitted) may attach roll bar with 6-inch x 6-inch x 0.125-inch (1/8") steel plates on top and bottom of floor bolted together with at least four 3/8-inch (0.375") diameter bolts and nuts, or weld main hoop (B bar) to rocker sill area with 0.125-inch (1/8") reinforcing plates, with plates welded completely."

Rudy the harness bar is lower than the shoulders, so I am good.

More progress pics, this time it is mounted

Thats good man, last thing you need is some compressed verterbrae because of an improperly located shoulder belt bar!

More progress pics, keep in mind this is only a mock up bar, so I am not welding it completely in place, some parts that should be welded are bolted for easy removal and duplication.
