As the title states, I'm looking for an air pump (whole unit) or just the diverter valve off of a 3rd gen obviously. Looking for used before I go to new even thought the valve is cheap. I really don't feeling like going to a GM dealership since the Saturn dealers didn't even know the Saturn parts well enough to satisfy my orders. These are both dealer only parts as far as I know.

15.87 US from saturnparts.net

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214643&chapter=&sectionids=2,2496&groupid=20001&subgroupid=60422&make=31&model=S%20Series%20Coupe&year=2002&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0

could this part have gone bad if those channels we created in your header were to shallow, and causing the pump to work too hard to pump the air into the exhaust system?

From what I understand, they naturally get full of carbon from the exhaust and plug up. It seems to be a GM wide problem with this part. After calling all of the GM dealerships in Hamilton and Burlington, only one admitted they sell Saturn parts and their parts department was closed. They would have to order the parts too as they do not stock them. GM Canada was no help either as the chick on the phone kept telling me to try the Saturn dealerships after I kept telling her "they are closed". She said "oh really"? like I was tricking her or something. Useless POS's. My next car will not be a GM. I can guarantee that.

Did that yesterday and then cleared my codes. Hopefully it will keep my light off now. Damn that thing was philthy too. I suggest to all of you 3rd gen people to do this and keep it clean. It took me 30 minutes or so but it needed it. Apparently this is a GM wide problem.

The air pump diverter valve, or the carbon build up?

i rememeber my old cavaliers 2.8L was bad for carbon buildup.

I didnt know any other GM vehicles had the air pimp?

then again i never really looked too hard at newer gm vehicles

So far. I took the whole thing apart and cleaned it up really well. Although the code is pending again, the light hasn't come back on.
