I was wondering.....Is it possible to pull out the fold down part of my back seat in a 97 saturn sc2......mount an inch or inch n half plywood in its place and set up my sound system through this with carpeting of course....? any ideas?

Yup you can do that.
Just make sure to seal off the front part of the subs from the back as well as possible. That may mean reinforcing the rear deck (or compeltely boxing it off) as well.

here's one example, but the guy should have made a large panel that covers the rear deck to make it stronger and to help isolate the 2 bass waves better.

The whole trick to doing an Infinite Baffle setup like this and what you're trying to do, is to make the 2 sides of the subs as isolated as possibe.
Think of the trunk as your new sub box; the better sealed it is, the better and more bass you get.

not trying to pee in any ones cornflakes but i thought the same thing. if you do that it will work. however if you turn the sub into the trunk you actually produce two sound waves that give you more bass if you can get them to work in phase. It will work ether way just that if you fire them into the trunk, they will be louder. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to start a fight I just did the research for the same thing. I went on to 12volt.com. It should be a huge thread on it. I think that the topic was sub or speaker enclosure. my user name over there is "I think" slwsl. you should be able to find it on there though. got lots of tips from those guys. I'll see if I can find a link.
